Statement of the passing of Richard D. Heffner

WASHINGTON — The following is a statement from Senator Chris Dodd, Chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. (MPAA) on the passing of Richard D. Heffner, former Chairman of the MPAA’s Classification and Ratings Administration:

“The entire MPAA family was saddened to learn of Richard Heffner’s passing this week. Dick served the film industry as the head of our voluntary ratings system for twenty years, overseeing the creation of the PG-13 and NC-17 ratings, as well as the addition of rating descriptors to better inform parents about a movie’s content. His significant contributions to our industry and dedication to evolving our film rating system will not be forgotten.”
