MPA Statement on USTR’s 2025 Special 301 Report
WASHINGTON – The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) today released its annual Special 301 Report, which reviews the global state of intellectual property protection and enforcement. The following is a statement from Motion Picture Association (MPA) Chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin:
“A strong creative economy depends on a thriving film, television, and streaming ecosystem. Across the country, our industry supports more than 2.32 million jobs and delivers over $229 billion in wages to workers each year. Around the world, our industry remains a critical source of American competitiveness — scoring a positive trade balance in every major market while accounting for six percent of the total U.S. trade surplus in services.
“The MPA commends the team at USTR and its interagency partners for identifying harmful practices, combating copyright infringement in foreign markets, and renewing its commitment to countering digital piracy worldwide. This report reflects a tireless effort to protect intellectual property and the livelihoods of American creators.”
