MPA Statement on Jean Prewitt’s Retirement as IFTA President and CEO
WASHINGTON – Jean Prewitt today announced she will step down as president and CEO of the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA) at the end of this year. The following is a statement from Charles Rivkin, Chairman and CEO, Motion Picture Association (MPA):
“For the past quarter-century, Jean Prewitt has served as a singular voice for independent storytellers across the country and around the world.
“From IFTA’s advocacy for brilliant creators to the American Film Market’s celebration of stirring creativity, Jean’s leadership has proven critical to the drive to safeguard the core values at the heart of film and television production – the defense of intellectual property rights, the protection of free expression, and the promotion of an open and competitive marketplace.
“At the MPA, we know that when independent filmmakers, distributors, and producers succeed, our entire industry grows and thrives. Jean drove that message home loud and clear, and we were proud to be her partners in fighting for our creative community. I look forward to seeing how Jean continues to champion the industry in the years ahead.”
