Motion Picture Association Statement on the Passing of Mike Miller

January 16, 2021

WASHINGTON – Charles Rivkin, Chairman and CEO, the Motion Picture Association, today issued the following statement on the passing of Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr., former President of the Maryland State Senate:

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mike Miller, the former Maryland Senate President and a longtime friend of the film and television industry. Our thoughts and condolences are with his wife, Patti, his son, his four daughters and his 14 grandchildren.

“Mike was a tireless champion for the Motion Picture Association, its members and the industry at large, both in Maryland and throughout the country. He recognized and supported legislation that brought production jobs and investment to Maryland over more than four decades in office, and he fiercely defended story tellers when challenged by those who attempted to restrict freedom of expression under the First Amendment.

“We’ll miss you, Mike. We’ll remain grateful for your friendship and all that we have achieved together.”
