Motion Picture Association Statement on Confirmation of Isabel Guzman as Small Business Administrator

March 16, 2021

WASHINGTON The U.S. Senate today confirmed Isabel Guzman as the next Small Business Administrator. The following is a statement from Charles Rivkin, Chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association:

“Small businesses form the backbone of the film, television, and streaming industry. We are comprised of more than 93,000 businesses in all 50 states – 87 percent of which employ fewer than 10 people. Small Business Administrator Isabel Guzman will be a champion for all small businesses, and the Motion Picture Association applauds the Senate for her bipartisan confirmation today.

“In the midst of this global pandemic, supporting small businesses is essential to our nation’s recovery. Film and television production will play a key role as communities across the country rebuild their economies. Indeed, a single day of on-location film production injects $250,000 into the local economy, and in 2019 our industry paid more than $49 billion to more than 280,000 local businesses across the nation. Film and television productions epitomize the ‘shovel ready’ projects small businesses depend upon to succeed, and we stand ready to work with Administrator Guzman to ensure the recovery and enduring success of American enterprise.”
