Statement from MPAA Chairman and CEO Senator Chris Dodd on the confirmation of Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State

WASHINGTON – The following is a statement from Senator Chris Dodd, Chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America, on the confirmation of Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State:

“The MPAA congratulates Rex Tillerson on his confirmation as Secretary of State. The film and television industry is a cultural ambassador of American ideals to the world and a global economic powerhouse, generating $16.3 billion in exports. By fostering free expression and innovation, advocating for creators, and promoting rule of law the State Department plays a key role in the continued growth of America’s creative economy. The MPAA looks forward to working with Secretary Tillerson and his State Department colleagues.”
