The Great American Lie

February 8, 2020

On Saturday evening, the Motion Picture Association hosted a special screening of The Great American Lie, the latest documentary film from Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and First Partner of California Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

The Great American Lie examines how a U.S. value system built on the extreme masculine ideals of money, power, and control has glorified individualism, institutionalized inequality, and undermined the ability of most Americans to achieve the American Dream.

Among the other notable attendees joining us for Saturday night’s screening:

  • Gov. Gavin Newsom, Governor of California
  • Jennifer Siebel Newsom, First Partner of California
  • Rear Admiral Susan J. Blumenthal, M.D.
  • DeDe Lea, Viacom
  • Frederick Humphries, Microsoft
  • Lynda Robb, Former First Lady of Virginia
  • Catherine Hand, Producer
