MPA Statement on New Study on Film Industry’s Economic Impact in New York State 2023 and 2024
NEW YORK – Empire State Development today released a new study from Regional Economic Models, Inc. focused on the economic impact of the film industry from 2023-2024. The following is a statement from Josh Levin, Vice President for State Government Affairs — Northeast Region at the Motion Picture Association:
“New York State is a top film production location because it is the home of a best-in-class creative community, diverse landscapes, and a globally competitive film tax credit program. As this study shows, New York’s production incentive program leads to a positive ROI on tax dollars received, generates over $20 in local economic output for every incentivized dollar, and creates high-paying, high-quality American jobs.”
