MPA Statement on Confirmation of John Squires as USPTO Director

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Senate has confirmed John Squires as the next Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The following is a statement from the Motion Picture Association:

“The Motion Picture Association looks forward to working with Director Squires to safeguard the intellectual property rights that are essential for the film, television, and streaming communities to thrive.

“Our studios and partners across the entertainment sector are central to the core copyright industries, which add $1.8 trillion in our GDP and put 9.6 million Americans to work. We welcome an agenda that protects creativity, promotes free expression, and supports creators wherever they seek to prepare, distribute, and display their craft.

“We look forward to partnering with Director Squires to keep cultivating the innovation, imagination, and creativity at the center of our industry, and advancing critical anti-piracy efforts around the globe.”
