Motion Picture Association Statement on Senate Confirmation of Eric Garcetti as U.S. Ambassador to India

WASHINGTON – The following is a statement from Motion Picture Association Chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin on the Senate confirmation of former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti as U.S. Ambassador to India.

“The Motion Picture Association congratulates former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti on his confirmation as U.S. Ambassador to India. A great champion of the creative economy, Ambassador Garcetti will be a valued partner to the global film, TV and streaming industry in one of the largest and most dynamic markets in the world. The MPA and our member studios continue to make significant investments in India, where we work closely with government officials, law enforcement, creators and other partners to encourage fair tax policies, open markets and strong copyright protections that will enable our industry, and the Indian creative economy, to continue to thrive. We look forward to working with Ambassador Garcetti in his new role to deepen the U.S.-India relationship and, in doing so, promote content creators as integral to a vibrant economy.”
