MPAA Chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin Applauds First Major ACE Legal Win

September 11, 2018

WASHINGTON – In an important victory for the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), a permanent injunction was stipulated today against Tickbox, an Atlanta-based seller of piracy devices that advertised free access to unauthorized movies and television shows. Formed in June 2017, ACE is a global antipiracy coalition of 30 leading content creators and entertainment companies. ACE filed its first civil action against Tickbox in October 2017 and obtained a preliminary injunction in January 2018.

“The film and television industry supports 2.1 million U.S. jobs, and our highest priority is protecting this creative economy from illegal online theft,” said MPAA Chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin. “We applaud the stipulated permanent injunction against Tickbox, which is an important milestone for the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) and the global effort to reduce online piracy. This action bolsters the legal digital marketplace, champions creators, and benefits audiences everywhere.”
