Statement from MPAA Chairman and CEO Senator Chris Dodd on Terry Branstad’s confirmation as U.S. Ambassador to China

WASHINGTON – The following is a statement from Senator Chris Dodd, Chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America, on the confirmation of Terry Branstad to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.

“The MPAA congratulates Terry Branstad on his confirmation as U.S. Ambassador to China. The American film and television industry generates $17.8 billion in exports from distributing creative content to more than 140 countries worldwide. As the second largest theatrical market in the world, China presents a particularly important opportunity to foster legitimate trade that will benefit both creators and consumers.

“The MPAA looks forward to working with Ambassador Branstad to expand market access, protect U.S. intellectual property, and drive economic growth.”
