MPAA Chairman and CEO Senator Chris Dodd Touts MPAA’s WhereToWatch.com at CinemaCon
State of the Industry Address Draws Critical Link between Legitimate Access, Creativity and Economic Growth

LAS VEGAS – Today, during his State of the Industry remarks at CinemaCon, MPAA Chairman and CEO Senator Chris Dodd drew the critical link between legitimate access to content, creativity and economic growth, and highlighted the MPAA’s WhereToWatch.com as an important tool supporting all three.

The address stressed the fundamental role that access to legitimate content plays in the continued economic growth of the industry.

WhereToWatch is the MPAA’s one-stop search tool that makes it easier for consumers to find content online or in theaters, while also supporting the nearly 2 million workers in the American motion picture and TV industry. Legitimately accessing content rewards the creators that drive America’s flourishing motion picture and TV industry, a nationwide economic sector that exports six times what it imports and pays an average wage of $84,000.

Speaking to the audience of theater owners, Senator Dodd stated: “We believe WhereToWatch.com is an important opportunity for our industry to directly engage with your customers and, at the same time, support creators by driving audiences to legal sources of content – both in your movie theaters and online.

Senator Dodd continued: “On a broader level, this effort is also a crucial recognition of the changing technological landscape, and the need to continue evolving to meet the demands of our consumers. That will mean finding new ways to enable audiences to see movies where and how they want, while maintaining the magic and unrivaled appeal of the theater-going experience that has been this industry’s driving force for well over a century.”

The remarks come just a few days before the MPAA hosts the 3rd annual Creativity Conference on April 24th at the Newseum in Washington, DC in partnership with ABC News and Microsoft. The conference will showcase America’s greatest strengths when it comes to global competitiveness:
innovation and creativity. Please visit the Creativity Conference’s website for more information.
