Behold the Epic First Trailer for Avengers: Infinity War

The first official trailer for Avengers: Infinity War is here, and it’s as massive and chill inducing as you’d hoped. Giving us our first glimpse of the super villain Thanos (Josh Brolin) in action, and arraying against him just about every character from a decade’s worth of Marvel movies, the Avengers: Infinity War trailer feels genuinely momentous.

We’ve known next to nothing about the plot, save for that the Russo Brothers’ upcoming film is based on Thanos finally squaring off against the Avengers in the flesh, as he’s taken his hunt for the Infinity Stones into his own hands (literally, as he hopes to add them to the Infinity Gauntlet, which he wears on his left hand and which will give him world destroying power). We’ve known that Infinity War will bring together not only the Avengers, but also nearly every major character in the MCU, including the Guardians of the Galaxy (who appear at the very end of the trailer).

With only five months and change until the May 4 premiere, Avengers: Infinity War will have time to mete out more plot details, but what this first trailer gives us is a decent grasp of just how massive this film truly is. There’s also the joy of watching characters who have never interacted now teaming up, including Iron man and Doctor Strange, Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy and more. Then, there are brief shots of moments in the trailer that have the chance to become immediate memes (a bearded Cap!), excitement (Tony Stark in his Hulkbuster armor, Spider-Man’s new metallic suit), and worry (Thanos forcibly removing Vision’s Infinity Stone!). We’ll be revisiting the trailer with a proper, slow roasted breakdown. For now, let’s just share it, think on it, and get your reactions.
