One Avenger that Could Survive the Wrath of Thanos

Marvel movies are always kept tightly under lock and key, which sometimes requires keeping details from the actors themselves. But with an ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe and a growing cast of characters, there are occasionally clues that pop up. The next installment in the Avengers series is mass-ensemble flick Infinity Warin which the whole team (and then some) unites to fight super villain Thanos—and this time not everyone is expected to make it out alive.

Filming of the 4th installment is already underway, so hints (or red herrings) are beginning to surface. Paul Bettany, who plays the super powerful, super smart Vision, revealed in a Collider interview that he’s scheduled to be back on set for the next sequel. “It felt like the biggest movie that I’ve ever made and will ever make, and we’ve still got to make the [next] one. It’s f***ing crazy! I would come in, often at dawn because of the length of my make-up, and there would just be all of these twinkling lights. It looked like a town, but it wasn’t. It was where all of the trailers were. It was just massive. It’s massive! The call sheets are bananas. When you see the list of cast members, you’re like, “How is anybody else making a film in Hollywood, this year? How are they getting films financed? Everybody is in this!”

If true, this comes as a surprise as Bettany’s character is a prime target for Thanos. The humanoid’s lifeforce comes from an Infinity Stone inside his head, and Thanos would presumably need to get inside his skull to take it, which doesn’t sound like it would end too well for Vision. Thanos seeks to unite the six stones into an Infinity Gauntlet that will make him the ultimate master of the universe.

Almost nothing is known about the 4th film set for release in 2019. Even the title would be a potential spoiler. Rumors have it that Scarlett Johansson’s character Black Widow is also set to return when a posting that appears to seek a body double for Johansson was revealed. No character is safe, however, as making it through round 1 of the Thanos onslaught doesn’t guarantee they’ll survive round 2.

We’ll find out who survives the Infinity War when it’s released on May 4.
