Japanese Kong: Skull Island Trailer Teases Battle With Godzilla

This Japanese trailer for Kong: Skull Island begins with a nod towards the mega-battle of the future, between King Kong and Godzilla that Warner Brothers has planned for March of 2019. With this bit of business taken care of, the trailer (with fantastic Japanese narration) dives into the story proper, which follows a team of explorers heading to Skull Island.

Those explorers are led by Colonel James Conrad (Tom Hiddleston) as they venture onto the primordial island to find a missing man and a mythical serum. Naturally, they also are plunging right into the heart of Kong's home, who is the undisputed god of the island, according to that missing man, played by none other than John C. Reilly, whose has been living with human inhabitants on the island. While Kong might be god of the island, that doesn’t mean he’s the only one with power—there are “devils” who dwell below ground, called skull crawlers.

The cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, Jing Tian, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham and Toby Kebbell. Jordan Vogt-Roberts directs the film, with a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein.
