This Star Trek 50th Anniversary Supercut Will Give you Goosebumps

Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of the debut of Star Trek: The Original Series, beginning with the premiere episode, “The Man Trap.”  Gene Roddenberry’s sci-fi series began its life with reviews that amounted to “meh.” But the series picked up something of a following, and carried on exploring space for three seasons until NBC finally pulled the plug.

Of course this was far from the end of Star Trek’s journey. The crew of the USS Enterprise returned to the big screen in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, which launched a ton of Star Trek stories on screens big and small, including reboots, sequels, various TV series, comics, animated shows and more. To take in the cultural, generations spanning impact Star Trek has made, check out this 50th Anniversary tribute Paramount put together. This is the Star Trek supercut to end all supercuts, which reminds you that crew of the Enterprise has always felt this way about you; “I have been — and always shall be — your friend.”

You may want to grab a tissue or two.

The Star Trek 50 Blu-ray set is available now.
