Science Meets Mayhem in Morgan Trailer

Morgan takes a conceit last explored in 2015's excellent Ex Machina and melds it with 2014's Lucy. What if a biosynthetic being (a little like Ex Machina's Ava) was kept in a remote, top-secret location (a lot like Ex Machina) but was still in the process of evolving into a more potent, potentially dangerous creation (a la Lucy)? The new trailer is plenty tense, introducing us to the corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) as she goes to investigate an accident at the aforementioned secret location. This is where she meets the "being," Morgan, a creation of "infinite promise and incalculable danger," as the film synopsis puts it. With a stellar cast that includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Toby Jones, Rose Leslie, Boyd Holbrook, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Paul Giamatti, Morgan has acting talent in spades. Whether it will be a intellectually satisfying as Ex Machina or as flat out bonkers as Lucy remains to be seen, but director Luke Scott's film definitely has promise.

Check out the trailer below. The film opens on September 2.
